Green and blue Oxford Bus Company electric double-decker bus carrying passengers at night

Visitors to Oxford’s South Park fireworks will have more time to stay after the display this Saturday, with return shuttle buses to Thornhill Park & Ride running until 10.15pm.

Oxford Bus Company is extending its evening shuttle provision for the Oxford Round Table event on Saturday 7 November 2026. Gates open at 4.30pm, with low-noise fireworks at 6.30pm and the main display at 7.15pm.

Shuttle times and the £3 park-and-ride ticket

The special 450 service will leave Thornhill Park & Ride between 4.15pm and 6.45pm. Return shuttle journeys will run from 7.45pm until 10.15pm, according to the bus company’s announcement.

It will operate alongside the regular 400 service, which runs from Thame through Thornhill to St Clement’s. Oxford Bus Company says the two services will provide a combined frequency of every five minutes until late in the evening.

A £3 combined parking and bus ticket at Thornhill covers up to 16 hours’ parking and travel for up to five people on the 400 and 450. Admission to the fireworks is separate. Normal bus fares apply to other journeys.

Passengers should board at stop B at Thornhill. For the return journey, the operator directs 450 passengers to the South Park stop on St Clement’s and 400 passengers to St Clement’s. Its fireworks travel page has boarding instructions and the combined timetable, with live tracking also available through the Oxford Bus app.

Luke Marion, managing director of Oxford Bus Company, said in a statement: “We’re proud to be supporting this fantastic event once again this year and to be providing a later shuttle bus from South Park.

“This will allow visitors that extra bit of time to enjoy all the festivities in the knowledge there is affordable and convenient travel for them when they leave.”

Check the last bus if travelling to Rose Hill

Other routes serving South Park include the 8 from Barton, the 15 from Wood Farm and the 4 and 400 connecting with Seacourt Park & Ride.

Visitors relying on the 20 towards Rose Hill should plan their journey home carefully. The last bus from South Park in that direction is at 7.25pm, just ten minutes after the main display is due to start, so it will not provide a return option after the full evening’s entertainment.

Fireworks, funfair and a silent disco

A silent disco after-party will follow the fireworks, while Hebborns funfair and food and drink vendors will provide further entertainment and refreshments.

The annual event is organised by Oxford Round Table volunteers. Oxford Bus Company says it has raised more than £1 million for charity since 1967, with all profits donated to local charities and good causes. Recent beneficiaries include Be Free Young Carers, Helen & Douglas House, Homeless Oxfordshire and Sobell House.

Event admission is booked separately through the Oxford Round Table fireworks website.
