Oxford illustrator kOrky Paul has created a £5 puzzle poster to raise money for Sobell House Hospice, with 50 hidden treasures for readers to find.

The artist, best known for illustrating the Winnie the Witch books, designed the poster for the hospice’s 50th anniversary. Sobell House says the full purchase price from every sale will help fund care for patients and their families.

Based on the Sobell House tree design, the search-and-find illustration is available online and in the charity’s shops. Its launch comes ahead of Christmas, offering a locally connected gift for puzzle fans and readers familiar with Paul’s work.

Five decades of care in Oxfordshire

Sobell House has supported adults with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones since 1976. Its services include care at home, in local hospitals and in its inpatient unit, alongside its Living Well service and bereavement support.

Paul, a long-standing supporter of the hospice, said in a statement: “For fifty years the dedicated staff and volunteers at Sobell House have given support, compassion and care to many families, at the most difficult moments in life.

“Please support Sobell House so they may continue to offer care and respite for another fifty years.”

Becky Sewell, the hospice’s director of retail, said: “We are so grateful to kOrky for creating something so special for us in our anniversary year. His illustrations have delighted generations of children and families, and it’s wonderful to see his talent and generosity coming together to support local hospice care.”

She said the hospice now supports more than 5,000 people a year, with more than 1,400 patients in its care at any one time.

Sobell House is jointly funded by the NHS and its supporting charity. The charity says it raises around £3 million to £4 million each year to support hospice services.
