Westgate Oxford has announced that Bershka will open at the city centre shopping destination later this year.
The 11,000 sq ft store will be located on the Upper Ground floor, next to H&M and Urban Outfitters.
Westgate says the opening will mark Bershka’s first store in Oxfordshire, adding another major international fashion name to the centre’s retail line-up.
An official opening date has not yet been confirmed, but Westgate said further details would be announced in due course.
What is Bershka?
Bershka is part of Inditex, the Spanish fashion group behind brands including Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Lefties.
The brand was founded in 1998 and is aimed largely at younger shoppers interested in trend-led fashion, music, technology and social media culture.
The new Oxford store will carry Bershka’s main womenswear line, which includes denim, casualwear and eveningwear, alongside BSK, a line focused on pop-culture-inspired styles.
Bershka Man will offer casualwear, sportswear and fashion-led pieces, with accessories and footwear also available in store.
Why the opening matters for Oxford shoppers
The arrival of Bershka gives Oxfordshire shoppers access to a brand that has previously required a trip outside the county or online ordering.
It also strengthens Westgate Oxford’s position as the county’s main city-centre fashion destination, sitting alongside existing high street and international names such as H&M, Urban Outfitters, Uniqlo, Primark, JD Sports, & Other Stories and John Lewis.
For the centre, the announcement continues a pattern of adding brands designed to draw shoppers from across Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties, rather than serving only city-centre footfall.
For Oxford itself, new retail openings remain significant because they help maintain the city centre as a shopping and leisure destination at a time when many high streets are still adapting to online shopping, changing customer habits and pressure on retail costs.
Westgate says Bershka was highly requested
Clare Martin, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, said: “Here at Westgate Oxford, we are constantly looking to elevate our brand lineup to provide our guests with access to retailers that can’t be found elsewhere in Oxfordshire.
“Bershka has been a highly-requested name, so we are thrilled to be welcoming them to our retail line-up.
“We look forward to sharing more details and an official opening date in due course.”
What shoppers need to know
The store will open later this year, but Westgate has not yet confirmed the exact launch date, opening offers or whether recruitment will be announced separately.
Shoppers should check Westgate Oxford’s website and social media channels closer to the opening for confirmed dates, trading hours and any launch-day arrangements.
Westgate Oxford is in the centre of Oxford and can be reached by bus, Park and Ride, train, bike and car. The centre’s website includes travel, parking and accessibility information for visitors planning a trip.
