After a sell-out run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe and being named one of the Best Reviewed Edinburgh Shows (British Comedy Guide), Christopher Macarthur Boyd is taking his critically acclaimed show Howling At The Moon on a major UK and Ireland tour in 2026. And Oxford comedy fans can catch him on the Friday 5th June 2026 at the Old Fire Station.

The Scottish stand-up has been hailed as “belly-achingly funny. An absolutely belter of a show” (***** The Herald), “a rare treat” (**** The Scotsman) and “the gold standard of Scottish stand-up” (**** One4Review).

About the show

Boyd’s comedy is a sharp blend of observational humour and offbeat storytelling, tackling themes of love, loss and lunacy. In Howling At The Moon, Boyd riffs on break-ups, moving back in with his parents in Glasgow’s east end, and the chaos of modern life, all with his trademark mix of warmth, honesty and irreverence.

The Times described it as stand-up that wrestles with neurodiversity, sexuality and lunacy while still landing big, relatable laughs.

Reviewers have praised his ability to combine deeply personal material with big laughs: The New York Times said “he has seriously fine-tuned his act and turned his offbeat humour up to 11.”

A rising star in comedy

Born and raised in Glasgow, Christopher Macarthur Boyd is a fast-rising stand-up whose autobiographical, slightly off-kilter storytelling has earned him sold-out Fringe runs and national tours. He co-hosts the hit podcast Here Comes The Guillotine with Frankie Boyle and Susie McCabe, has released the specials Oh No (800 Pound Gorilla Media) and Scary Times (filmed at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre, now on YouTube), and has hosted the BBC New Comedy Awards.

He has supported household names such as Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Susie McCabe, Shane Gillis and David Cross, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting voices in UK comedy.
