A Harwell man has been jailed for life for murdering his mother, 64-year-old Helen Rundle.
Carl Rundle, 42, of The Park, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Friday 23 October. He must serve a minimum of 20 years.
A jury unanimously convicted him of murder on 16 October following a trial lasting more than two weeks, according to Thames Valley Police.
Officers were called to an address in The Park, Harwell, at about 9.35pm on 27 January 2026. Helen died at the scene despite officers’ attempts to save her life.
Her son was arrested there and charged two days later.
Detective Inspector Alice Broad, who led the Major Crime Unit investigation, said police were supporting the family and asked that their privacy be respected.
The family has also released a tribute to Helen.
Thames Valley Police published its sentencing update on 23 October.
