Oxford audiences are in for a treat as Huge Davies, one of the most original voices in British comedy, brings his highly anticipated debut tour to The North Wall on March 1st. His new show, Album For My Ancestors (Dead), follows a critically acclaimed, sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it was one of the top-reviewed shows of 2024.

Armed with his signature wearable keyboard, deadpan delivery, and razor-sharp musical comedy, Huge is set to take audiences on a surreal journey through songs “passed down” from his family members and ancestors, except those relatives include characters like Batman, Ash Ketchum, and the entire cast of Friends.

What to Expect from Album For My Ancestors (Dead)

  • Comedic songs “handed down” through generations—ranging from bizarre family anecdotes to completely fabricated legacies.

  • Plenty of audience interaction—Huge is known for his sharp, improvised moments with crowds.

Who is Huge Davies?

Originally named Hugh Davies, he adopted “Huge” as a stage name while performing in Aberdeen to maintain anonymity in his early gigs.

With a full-size Yamaha keyboard strapped to himself, Huge quickly gained a reputation for his unique blend of musical comedy, combining sinister deadpan delivery, absurd storytelling, and electronic beats.

His breakout moment came when he became a semi-finalist in the BBC New Comedy Award (2017). His debut solo show, The Carpark (2019), earned him a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, leading to multiple sold-out London runs.

From Standout Fringe Hit to National Tour

Huge Davies’ rise in comedy has been nothing short of remarkable. His debut show, The Carpark, was a breakout hit at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, earning him a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and a sold-out London run, which had to be extended three times due to overwhelming demand. The show was later recorded and released as a special with 800 Pound Gorilla Media.

Since then, Huge has continued to cement his reputation as one of the most exciting talents in UK comedy, with sold-out performances, critically acclaimed shows, and high-profile TV appearances on:

  • 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4)
  • Roast Battle (Comedy Central)
  • Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV1)
  • Never Mind The Buzzcocks (Sky Max, as a writer)

Huge is also the co-host of hit podcast Slime Country alongside fellow comedians Ed Night and Sunil Patel, and has even made a guest appearance on Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

Edinburgh Fringe Success & the Malcolm Hardee Award

Huge has developed a reputation for delivering some of the most acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

  • His 2023 show, Whodunnit, was a critical hit.
  • In 2024, he returned with Album For My Ancestors (Dead), a show that landed him in the British Comedy Guide’s list of top-reviewed Fringe shows.
  • He was also nominated for the Malcolm Hardee Award for Cunning Stunt, recognizing his inventive approach to marketing and comedy.
