Archive report: September 2016. This article concerns the demolition of Jeremy Clarkson’s former farmhouse in 2016. It has been reviewed against contemporary records; it is not a report of a new demolition.
Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswold farmhouse was demolished using explosives in September 2016, following planning permission for a replacement home near Chipping Norton.
The property was Curdle Hill Farmhouse on Chipping Norton Road. Chadlington Parish Council’s minutes of 12 September 2016 record that application 16/01505/FUL, for removal of the existing dwelling and construction of a replacement, had been approved.
The minutes also record discussion of the explosions and state that building control officers attended the demolition and were satisfied it had been carried out correctly.
The Grand Tour’s first series
At the time of the original report, Clarkson was preparing for the launch of The Grand Tour, alongside Richard Hammond and James May. Amazon subsequently confirmed that the first episode would premiere on 18 November 2016.

Archive clarification, 16 October 2026: the original report gave a Wednesday demolition date, while the parish council minutes refer to Thursday. We have retained the verified month and year. Unsubstantiated purchase figures, interior specifications and architectural quotations have been removed.
