A man has been arrested by police following an attempted robbery at a supermarket in Rose Hill, Oxford last night in which a man was stabbed in the arm.

Police and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) were called to Premier Turna Supermarket in The Oval at 16.45pm yesterday following reports that a male had suffered a stab wound.

An ambulance and rapid response vehicle with an ambulance officer was sent to the scene where the patient was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

A 25-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested by police today on suspicion of a robbery of a business and he currently remains in police custody.

Charlotte Redman, spokesperson for Thames Valley Police, said: “Police were called to Premier Supermarket at Rose Hill, Oxford to reports of a man with a knife.

“One person sustained injuries to their arm.”

David Gallagher, spokesperson for SCAS, said: “It was believed the patient had been injured during an attempted robbery at the store and it wasn’t clear whether he was a staff member or shopper/bystander.

“The assailant was being detained at the premises and our first responders to the scene therefore waited for police to arrive before entering the premises.”
