Pioneering British DJ Lisa Loud will headline an outdoor house music party at Crazy Bear’s Stadhampton venue on Saturday 5 September.

The House Classique Party will run from 2pm until 8pm across the venue’s Glasshouse Terrace and Garden Area, with a line-up also featuring Lauren Thompson, Lou Black and NNTN.

Organisers are promising an afternoon of house classics, Balearic sounds and groove-led sets rather than a late-night club event.

A BBQ menu will be available throughout the party, alongside the venue’s drinks offering.

Who is Lisa Loud?

Lisa Loud has spent more than three decades working across Britain’s dance music and club culture.

Often billed as the “First Lady of Dance Music”, she was an early visitor to Ibiza during the emergence of the Balearic scene and later established herself as both a DJ and music-industry promoter.

Her career developed during the rise of acid house and took her from British clubs to dancefloors and events around the world.

Alongside performing, she worked in dance music promotion at Virgin Records and was involved with acts including Soul II Soul, Neneh Cherry and Inner City.

Her sets have moved through Balearic music, house and tribal-influenced sounds, with the Crazy Bear appearance expected to draw on the music associated with her long club career.

Jen Needham, Marketing Director at Crazy Bear, said: “Lisa Loud needs no introduction to house fanatics. A name synonymous with the genre, Lisa demonstrates the direction of travel Crazy Bear is heading.”

Who else is playing?

The wider line-up brings together four DJs for the six-hour event.

DJWhat to expect
Lisa LoudBalearic, house and club sounds shaped by a career spanning more than three decades.
Lauren ThompsonPart of the supporting line-up for the afternoon and early evening.
Lou BlackBalearic-influenced, groove-led house, with previous appearances ranging from Formula 1 events at Silverstone to smaller sunset sessions.
NNTNThe event’s host DJ, helping carry the party across the full afternoon.

Set times have not yet been published, so visitors hoping to see a particular DJ should check Crazy Bear’s event updates closer to the date.

The main Crazy Bear event page currently lists all four names. The separate ticket page names Lisa Loud, NNTN and Lauren Thompson but omits Lou Black, apparently in error. The venue should confirm the final line-up before the event.

A daytime alternative to a late club night

The House Classique Party follows the growing popularity of daytime dance events, which offer the atmosphere of a club or festival without continuing into the early hours.

Running from mid-afternoon until 8pm, the Crazy Bear event gives guests the option of spending six hours dancing while still finishing at a comparatively early time.

The garden and terrace setting should give it a different feel from a conventional indoor club night, with the programme designed around an end-of-summer afternoon rather than a midnight headline slot.

It is likely to appeal to long-standing house music fans, groups marking a birthday or anniversary, and people who want a social dance event without committing to a full night out.

Crazy Bear says larger music events and parties are becoming a greater focus for the Stadhampton venue under its current leadership team.

What food and drink will be available?

A BBQ menu will be served throughout the afternoon and evening.

Crazy Bear has not yet published the dishes, prices or dietary options, and the ticket page does not state that food is included in the £25 admission price.

Anyone with food allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements should contact the venue before attending rather than assuming a suitable option will be available.

The venue also has bars and dining spaces, but event-specific arrangements may differ from its usual restaurant service.

Planning the journey from Oxford

Crazy Bear Stadhampton is in a rural village setting around six miles beyond the Oxford ring road.

Drivers approaching from Oxford can leave the ring road at Cowley and follow the B480 towards Watlington. Crazy Bear directs vehicles through Stadhampton and into its hotel car park from Newells Lane.

Anyone planning to drink should arrange a designated driver, taxi or lift in advance. Taxi availability in rural Oxfordshire can be limited at busy times, particularly when several guests leave the same event together.

The Oxford Bus Company number 11 serves Stadhampton from Oxford city centre through Cowley Road, Templars Square and Garsington.

Under the current Saturday timetable, a bus leaves Oxford St Aldate’s at 1.05pm and reaches Stadhampton School Lane at approximately 1.46pm, shortly before the event begins.

The return journey is more difficult. The last Saturday service from Stadhampton continuing through to Oxford city currently leaves School Lane at 6.38pm, more than an hour before the party finishes.

A later bus leaves Stadhampton at 7.48pm but is currently shown as terminating at Cowley Lidl rather than continuing into central Oxford.

Visitors hoping to stay until the 8pm finish should therefore not rely on the bus for the complete return journey unless the timetable changes. Check the live number 11 timetable shortly before travelling.

Weather and outdoor arrangements

The event is being held across the Glasshouse Terrace and Garden Area.

Visitors should check the weather forecast and Crazy Bear’s updates before setting off, particularly if heavy rain, strong wind or unusually hot weather is expected.

The current event page does not explain whether the party will move indoors, continue under cover or be altered in poor weather.

Suitable footwear is sensible for an event partly held in a garden setting, while sun protection and water may be useful if warm weather continues into early September.

Accessibility and age guidance

Crazy Bear’s current event and ticket pages do not publish detailed access information for the Glasshouse Terrace and Garden Area.

Guests who use a wheelchair or mobility aid, require step-free access, need accessible toilets or have sensory requirements should contact the venue before buying tickets.

The booking information also does not state whether the event is restricted to adults.

Because alcohol will be available and the programme is presented as a house music party, anyone planning to attend with a person under 18 should seek written confirmation from Crazy Bear before booking.
