Classical music fans are in for a treat, as tickets are now on sale for the 21st Tetbury Music Festival in Gloucestershire. This world-class festival in the ancient Cotswold town capitalises on its early autumn timing by presenting concerts by candlelight.

Craig Ogden starts the 2024 Festival with a programme that shows the guitar’s versatility through 400 years of music making. Renowned pianist Imogen Cooper makes her festival debut performing Beethoven’s last three Sonatas, and an energetic evening with Amy Harman, bassoon and the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective includes a world premiere by Gary Carpenter, as well as works by Mozart, Dora Pejačević, and Dvořák.

Across the weekend, there are English Romantic choral masterpieces from Polyphony and Stephen Layton. Vilde Frang, violin, concludes the Festival with the forces of Arcangelo conducted by Jonathan Cohen together with soprano Julia Doyle.

There are lectures and interviews to guide listeners through each performance and offer unique insights into the music.
Festival Director Caz Weller Knight comments:
“After last year’s sell-out concerts we were keen to maintain the momentum with a varied, international and prestigious programme. I hope our loyal supporters will be as excited as we are in our anticipation of the performances this autumn.”
Tetbury Music Festival is grateful to its patron, His Majesty King Charles III.
