Pulhams Coaches has introduced an enhanced bus service to improve transport links to and from John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The H2 service, previously operated by Stagecoach, has been taken over and upgraded by Pulhams with support from Oxfordshire County Council.

The revised timetable offers more frequent buses, better connectivity, and extended hours, providing a more reliable option for hospital visitors, staff, and local residents.

Key Improvements to the H2 Service

  • Increased frequency – Buses now run every 30 minutes from Witney, Eynsham, Summertown, and JR Hospital from Monday to Saturday.
  • Sunday service introduced – There are now four journeys in each direction on Sundays, improving weekend access to the hospital.
  • Extended timetable – Additional early morning and late evening journeys now operate to and from Carterton, benefiting commuters and shift workers.
  • New stops at Oxford Brookes University – Weekday services now include stops at Gipsy Lane, making it easier for students and staff at Oxford Brookes University’s Headington Campus to travel.

Why This Matters for Oxfordshire Residents

The improvements to the H2 bus service provide vital connections for hospital workers, patients, and visitors. Reliable public transport to John Radcliffe Hospital is essential for those attending medical appointments, visiting loved ones, or commuting for work and study.

Pulhams Coaches Area Director, Alex Chutter, said:

This is fantastic news for bus users and the communities on the route, and particularly those who need to visit the JR Hospital – whether for work, to visit loved ones or for medical appointments.

“Providing improved connectivity to the JR Hospital is a key area of focus for our business currently, and we’re proud to be able to be able to announce this latest improvement, which follows several recent improvements made by our colleagues at Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel. We are grateful to Oxfordshire County Council for its support to ensure we could take on and enhance this vital service for bus users.
