A Didcot landmark has reopened its doors following a major six-figure refurbishment, marking a new era for one of South Oxfordshire’s most historic pubs.

The Broadways, located in the heart of Didcot town centre, has been serving locals for more than a century and has now unveiled a stylish new interior, upgraded sports facilities, and a refreshed events calendar that promises to make it the go-to destination for community gatherings, live sport, and weekend entertainment.

A Century at the Heart of Didcot

First opening in the early 1900s, the Broadways has long stood as a cornerstone of Didcot’s social life. Over the decades, it has evolved with the town itself, from a traditional working men’s pub to a lively modern venue welcoming families, sports fans and music lovers alike.

Now, thanks to the investment from Craft Union Pub Company, the venue has undergone a complete internal and external makeover.

A Fresh New Look

The interior refurbishment has transformed the pub into a brighter, warmer and more welcoming space, complete with new seating, lighting and décor throughout. Outside, the beer garden features a brand-new range of furniture, perfect for socialising during summer afternoons or after-work drinks.

The bar area has also been revitalised, now offering a wide selection of affordable beers, ciders, wines and low or no-alcohol options, ensuring there’s something for every taste.

“We’re so excited to welcome back both familiar and new faces to the renovated Broadways,” said Tracey Bennett, the pub’s operator.

“This investment has allowed us to create a warmer, more inviting space for the whole community, and I’m sure our guests will love it. Personally, the brand-new sports area has quickly become my favourite feature.”

The Ultimate Sports Pub Experience

Sports fans are in for a treat. Broadways now boasts a state-of-the-art audio-visual system and new Sky Q boxes, meaning visitors can watch Sky Sports, Sky Sports+, TNT Sports, and even live matches streamed through Amazon Prime, all in full HD.

With multiple large screens, immersive sound and a lively crowd, the Broadways promises one of Didcot’s best live sports atmospheres.

The new pub sports area adds to the fun, with a professional darts zone, a pool table (free every Monday), and regular games nights.

“Our goal is to offer the best pub sports experience in the area,” said Tracey. “We’ve worked hard behind the scenes to make this the place to watch, play, and enjoy sport with friends.”

Its weekly entertainment schedule offers something for everyone:

  • Monday: Free pool all day
  • Tuesday: Darts night
  • Wednesday: Traditional meat raffle
  • Thursday: Race Day – free pint for winning bets, followed by karaoke
  • Friday: Party night with resident DJ until 3am
  • Saturday: Live local bands, then DJ after midnight
  • Sunday: Quiz Night from 7pm

A Pub for Everyone

Broadways welcomes well-behaved dogs, making it a popular stop for walkers heading into town or along nearby green routes. The pub’s friendly staff, relaxed vibe, and accessible layout make it a place where everyone, locals and visitors alike, can feel at home.
