Didcot foodies have a bold new option on their doorstep with the arrival of Crispy Dosa, the South Indian vegetarian restaurant that has just opened at the Orchard Centre.

The new venue, located directly opposite Cineworld Cinema, has already drawn crowds eager to sample its colourful menu of dosas, idlis, Indo-Chinese dishes and tandoori specials. For many visitors, it’s a first taste of authentic South Indian street food, served in a bright, family-friendly setting.

A vegetarian specialist

Unlike many high-street Indian restaurants, Crispy Dosa is vegetarian-only, making it a welcome addition for plant-based and health-conscious diners. Its signature dish is, of course, the dosa: thin golden pancakes made from rice and lentil batter, cooked crisp and served with fresh coconut chutneys and spicy sambar.

Fillings range from the classic masala potato to chilli paneer and cheese & green chilli, while other favourites include gobi Manchurian (crispy cauliflower tossed in Indo-Chinese spices) and paneer butter masala. For first-time visitors, staff recommend starting with the masala dosa, a South Indian staple.

Affordable flavour

Crispy Dosa is already proving popular with locals, with many praising the menu’s variety and value. Most mains are priced under £10, making it one of the most affordable sit-down restaurants at the Orchard Centre. Diners can eat in, take away, or order via delivery platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Part of a growing food scene

Dean Inwood, Centre Manager at Orchard Centre, said:

“It’s been fantastic to see such a positive response to Crispy Dosa already. The new addition strengthens our growing food and drink offer and reflects our ongoing commitment to bring fresh and exciting experiences to the Orchard Centre.”

The restaurant joins a line-up that already includes Nando’s, BLK HSE, Berro Lounge, Kaspa’s and Lusso, helping transform the centre into more of a day-to-night destination with food, cinema, and leisure all in one place.
