Restaurant chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) is hoping for a slice of the early trade after unveiling a new breakfast menu for its Oxford site.

The restaurant in George Street now opens it’s doors at 8am for breakfast quick bites, brunch breaks, or leisurely breakfasts. The menu includes traditional Breakfast Muffins filled with bacon or sausage and hash browns; Muffin Meals which include your choice of filling with a side of hash browns and a hot or cold drink; or avocado and egg or bacon and eggs meals. The breakfast menu is served daily until 11.30am and is also available for takeout and delivery.

GBK Oxford is on George Street

Sarah Boyle, Head of Operations, GBK said “We’re thrilled to bring our signature GBK flair to breakfast in Oxford. Our new menu is all about delivering the same quality and flavour our customers love, now from the very start of the day.”

As part of the launch, the Oxfordshire Guardian was invited to taste test the menu – and to help us out, we brought along two rugby players, who we knew had good appetites.

The GBK breakfast muffin will satisfy any hunger

We battled through Storm Bert and arrived hungry and ready for a breakfast treat. I ordered a breakfast muffin, which was filled with crispy bacon and two hash brown (£4), and an Americano coffee (£2.70) – and for me it was the perfect start to a Saturday morning.

The lattes were delicious

My companions ordered bacon and egg muffin meal which included two hash browns and a Latte coffee (£7); while the rugby players both ordered Muffin Meals, the first a triple sausage, egg and cheese muffin with hash browns and orange juice (£11), and the second opted for a double sausage, egg and cheese muffin with two hash browns on the side and an orange juice (£9) – soon regretting not going for the triple patty.

There was plenty of seating inside

We enjoyed our breakfast, the restaurant is clean and spacious and the staff pleasant and helpful. We wish GBK luck with the new breakfast menu launch – the Oxford restaurant is certainly in a great location to catch passing trade, commuters and shoppers.
