A spinning-wheel curse and a sleeping princess

The production uses a script by Ben Crocker, named on Buttercross’s promotional poster. The fairy-tale plot is combined with the songs, comedy and audience participation advertised for this production.

Carabosse curses Aurora to prick her finger before her 18th birthday. The Good Fairies soften the spell, setting up the prince’s attempt to wake her.

The producer describes a traditional pantomime format with comic characters, musical numbers and opportunities for the audience to join in.

The producer’s live booking list identifies the relaxed and adults-only performances separately from the standard family shows.

Matinees, evening shows and an adults-only date

Evening performances start at 7.30pm and matinees at 1.45pm. The relaxed performance is on 19 December at 1.45pm; its booking listing says audience members can move around, make noise, and leave or return during the show.

Other matinees are shown on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The overall 18 to 31 December run therefore includes different kinds of performance, rather than an identical daily schedule.

TicketSource labels the standard adult category “Adult (15+)”, so the child category applies to under-15s. The relaxed show lists the same adult and child prices. The 29 December After-Dark Panto at 7.30pm is strictly for ages 18 and over, with tickets at £17.34 including the £1.34 booking fee.
