A new outdoor games experience is being added to Tumblestone Hollow at Stonor Park for the summer holidays.

Camp Tumblestone will run in the woodland adventure playground from Saturday 18 July, bringing extra family challenges alongside the existing slides, tunnels, towers, bridges and water play areas.

The new activity zone includes giant Connect 4, Jenga, ball-run games and an agility course where children can test their balance and coordination.

A teepee camp area has also been created in the grounds, giving younger explorers a place to rest, use their imagination and take a break between activities.

What families can expect at Camp Tumblestone

Camp Tumblestone is designed to add more structured play to a day out at Tumblestone Hollow without requiring a separate event ticket.

Families will be able to challenge one another at giant garden games, try the new ball-run activities and take on the balance and agility trail.

The activities sit alongside Tumblestone Hollow’s existing 10-acre adventure playground, which is set in woodland in the grounds of Stonor Park, close to the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire border.

The playground already includes spiralling slides, tunnels, wooden logs, towers, ladders, bridges and a toddler section with water play.

Louisa Fifield, general manager at Stonor Park, said: “Tumblestone Hollow already provides an action-packed and fun-filled day out for families, with its impressive structure and lots of exciting areas to conquer again and again, but we’ve created these additional activities to provide families with even more outdoor fun to experience during a truly value-for-money adventure.”

Summer ticket savings

Stonor Park says Camp Tumblestone is included with standard Tumblestone Hollow admission.

The venue is also passing on the Government’s Great British Summer Savings VAT reduction, which temporarily cuts VAT on eligible family attractions from 20% to 5% during the summer period.

Stonor’s current Camp Tumblestone event page lists tickets at £8.30 for adults, £9.15 for children aged five and over, £7.45 for children aged three to four, and free entry for children up to two.

Louisa added: “We have also welcomed the recent announcement from the government with its Great British Summer Savings initiative, and we are pleased to be able to pass the entirety of this saving on to our visitors by reducing the ticket prices by the full 15% for the summer.

“We hope this helps families enjoy more adventures and more time together this summer.”

Food, shade and wet-weather cover

Because Tumblestone Hollow is set within woodland, families can find some natural shade during hot weather.

Stonor Park says the permanent teepee also gives families somewhere to pause if the British summer weather turns.

Louisa said: “Families can take advantage of the shady cover Tumblestone Hollow provides during the midday sunshine as it’s nestled in the woodland and we also have a permanent teepee in case the unpredictable British weather takes a turn and a summer shower descends.

“The teepee is also a great place for parents to take a seat, soak in the beautiful surroundings and have a well-earned break with a drink from one of our on-site vendors, whilst watching their children have so much fun discovering the playground.”

Families looking for food during their visit can use the Rumble Hut, which serves wood-fired pizzas, hot drinks and cold drinks during peak season. Stonor’s food information also lists Italian gelato and American-style milkshakes at Tumblestone Hollow.

What else is at Stonor Park?

Camp Tumblestone is part of the wider Stonor Park estate, which includes historic gardens, parkland and Stonor House.

Stonor Park has been home to the Stonor family for more than 850 years and sits within 250 acres of parkland, historic gardens and deer parkland.

The estate is also home to woodland trails and a restored Second World War air raid shelter, with walking routes nearby connecting with long-distance paths including the Chiltern Way and Shakespeare’s Way.

For families, the practical appeal is that Tumblestone Hollow can be part of a longer day out, with play, food and the gardens all on the same estate.
