What is Mean Girls about?

Previously home-schooled, Cady arrives at North Shore High and finds that fitting in means navigating a fiercely guarded social hierarchy. Regina and her friends Gretchen and Karen, known as the Plastics, occupy its highest rung.

Cady’s attempt to undermine Regina pulls her further into the world she originally set out to challenge. Friendship, popularity and revenge drive a story familiar to fans of the film, now told with a musical score.

Fey wrote the stage musical’s book, with music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs. The show won Best New Musical at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards following its London run.

Who is in the touring cast?

Lane’s previous roles include Anna in Frozen in the West End, while Panka’s credits include Dear Evan Hansen and Heathers. They are joined in the touring company by Kiara Dario as Gretchen, Sophie Pourret as Karen, Georgie Buckland as Janis and Max Gill as Damian.

Karim Zeroual plays Kevin Ganatra and Joshua Elmore plays Mr Duvall. The official tour website lists the company and venue dates.

Planning a family or group visit

The recommended minimum age is ten. The production includes mature content, strong language, bullying themes and strobe effects. New Theatre Oxford does not admit children under three, and anyone under 16 must sit with an accompanying adult aged 18 or over.

Wednesday and Saturday matinees offer alternatives to the evening performances. Prices depend on the performance and seat selected; use the venue’s booking page for the available options and any fees.

The theatre is on George Street in central Oxford. Its event page includes travel and access information, with assistance available through ATG’s access service for visitors who need help choosing suitable seats.
