Stefan Dennis and George Rainsford will lead the cast of The King’s Speech when the play comes to Oxford Playhouse in January.
The Barn Theatre production runs from 13 to 16 January 2027, with Dennis playing speech therapist Lionel Logue opposite Rainsford as Bertie, the future King George VI. It brings David Seidler’s story of an unlikely friendship to the stage at the beginning of a nationwide tour.

A friendship behind the royal microphone
The drama follows Bertie’s work with Logue as a private struggle with speech becomes inseparable from public duty. Royal expectations, the abdication crisis and the approach of war raise the stakes for a man required to address his country.
At its centre is the relationship between two people from very different worlds. Logue’s methods challenge the conventions surrounding the royal family, while Bertie must decide how far he is willing to trust him.
Who is in the cast?
Dennis and Rainsford are joined by Rosanna Miles as Queen Elizabeth and Lucy Bromilow as Myrtle Logue and Wallis Simpson. Tim Hudson plays King George V and Winston Churchill, Ian Kirkby plays Archbishop Cosmo Lang, and Mark Hammersley takes the roles of David, later King Edward VIII, and Stanley Baldwin.
The production is directed by Loveday Ingram. The official production website has further company information and booking links for the tour.
