Shoppers outside M&S Foodhall and TK Maxx at Didcot’s Orchard Centre

Didcot’s Orchard Centre brings together shops, cafés and restaurants close to Didcot Parkway. The centre opened in 2005 and its extension opened in March 2018, according to development adviser FMX. The extension added shops and places to eat.

Planning a visit: allow about five minutes to walk from Didcot Parkway, depending on your destination and walking pace. Shop and restaurant opening times vary. Parking information below includes a caution because published tariffs conflict: check the signs when you arrive.

Shops and retail highlights

The British Land leasing directory, checked on 16 October 2026, lists the following among the centre’s tenants. This is a selection, rather than a guarantee that every business is open at a particular time.

  • Clothes and footwear: Next, H&M, TK Maxx, New Look, FatFace, Clarks, Shoe Zone, Sports Direct and Mountain Warehouse.
  • Home, gifts and books: Dunelm, Currys, Bensons for Beds, Robert Dyas, The Works, Waterstones, Pandora and The Entertainer.
  • Food shopping and everyday essentials: Sainsbury’s, M&S Foodhall, COOK, Boots, Superdrug, Grape Tree and Holland & Barrett.
  • Services: Specsavers, Didcot Dental Studio, O2, EE, Vodafone, Nationwide and Newbury Building Society.

Hotel Chocolat also has a store and Velvetiser Café at 62 Orchard Street. Use individual businesses’ own store pages for opening times, appointments and stock information.

Food and drink

Options in the centre’s tenant directory include Nando’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, KFC, Kaspa’s Desserts, Lusso, Costa, Starbucks and Crispy Dosa. Boswells is a café, rather than a department store.

Muffin Break lists its Didcot café at Unit 7. For background on another restaurant, read our report on Crispy Dosa’s opening. Opening announcements and launch offers are historical information; check with the restaurant before relying on an old promotion.

Leisure and family visits

The centre’s directory includes Snap Fitness, Cineworld and Cornerstone Arts Centre. Check Cineworld Didcot for films and screening times. Sparkle Play Café is another option for families; check its booking arrangements and session times before travelling.

Opening hours

There is no single opening time that applies to every shop, café and restaurant. These examples were checked against the businesses’ own pages on 16 October 2026. Bank holidays and individual dates may differ.

Getting there

Address: Orchard Centre, 20 Station Road, Didcot, Oxfordshire, OX11 7LL. Individual shops may use a different postal address.

By train or on foot: the centre is about a five-minute walk from Didcot Parkway, according to the owner’s leasing information. Allow longer if you are heading to a shop at the far end, travelling with children or need a slower pace. The earlier two-minute walking estimate in this guide was inconsistent and has been removed.

By bus: the operator’s X2/X3 timetable lists Orchard Centre stops for the X2 service between Oxford and Didcot. Check the direction, date and service column: X3 journeys are not interchangeable with X2 journeys.

By bike: check your route before setting off and use designated cycle parking. The archive map below shows the relationship between the shopping area and railway station; it is not a live record of route changes.

Parking: check the current signs

Didcot Dental Studio’s visitor information describes 875 parking spaces, number-plate recognition, two hours’ free parking and a five-hour maximum stay, with payment before departure for longer visits.

Parking tariffs still need confirmation. The practice’s published charges differ from those in a March 2025 Didcot Town Council report. We could not confirm the current tariff directly with the centre’s website during this review. Check the entrance and payment-machine signs for the free period, charging hours, maximum stay and any no-return restriction. The tariff graphic previously used in this article has been removed because it was not reliable enough to use as parking advice.

Toilets and accessibility

An April 2018 district council report confirmed that a Changing Places toilet had been installed at the Orchard Centre, with a height-adjustable changing bench and hoist. That historical report does not confirm today’s access arrangements or opening hours.

If you depend on this facility, check availability and any access requirements with the centre before travelling. The Changing Places toilet finder can help with planning. We have removed the earlier unverified directions to specific toilets and cash machines.

Reviewed on 16 October 2026. This update corrects the walking-time inconsistency and Boswells’ description, replaces the old retailer list and general opening-hour claim, and removes an unsupported statement that the 2018 extension brought the cinema. The old shop map and tariff graphic have been removed. Current parking tariffs and toilet access arrangements remain subject to confirmation.
