Thrill-seekers and rock-climbers from Oxfordshire seeking fun activities this summer, take note. A major new attraction is opening in early August, and it’s reaching record-breaking heights.

270 Climbing Park, based in the Cotswolds between Cheltenham and Gloucester, has unveiled a towering 18-metre outdoor climbing wall, officially making it the tallest in the UK. Built to international competition standards, this new addition firmly positioning it as one of Europe’s top destinations for outdoor climbing and aerial adventure, for elite and beginner climbers alike.

Just over an hour’s drive from Oxford and on the door-step of West Oxfordshire, the park’s latest development is part of a wider £7 million investment and five-year expansion plan, transforming the site into one of the most comprehensive climbing destinations in the country.

What’s New?

  • 18-metre outdoor wall: equivalent to four double-decker buses tall
  • UK’s only outdoor speed climbing walls, perfect for training and competitions
  • 17-metre indoor lead climbing wall, with Olympic-standard bouldering facilities
  • UK’s largest autobelay wall: safe and accessible for all abilities

And it’s already made waves: prior to the public launch the park recently hosted the European Military Climbing Championships 2025, welcoming over 60 elite climbers from across the continent to test the new wall’s potential.

“It’s like a mini Innsbruck,” said GB Route Setter Jake Mason, referencing Austria’s famed Olympic-standard facility. “A place where we can develop new climbers, especially those aiming for the GB team.”
