Witney’s Woolgate Shopping Centre has long been a cornerstone of the town’s retail life. Opened in 1987 and positioned just off Market Square, it remains one of West Oxfordshire’s most convenient and welcoming places to shop, eat, and meet.

With more than 25 stores and services, from trusted high-street names to local favourites, Woolgate blends practicality with community spirit. Whether you’re picking up essentials, browsing for gifts, or enjoying a relaxed coffee, it’s a friendly, walkable alternative to out-of-town retail parks.

Overview & Local History

Woolgate sits at the heart of Witney, linking the historic Market Square to modern convenience shopping. Developed in the late 1980s, the centre was designed to support the town’s growing population while retaining Witney’s market-town character.

Today, the mall serves thousands of residents from across West Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. The open-air layout, wide pedestrian streets and nearby car parks make it easy to combine a visit to Woolgate with a stroll around Witney’s independent shops and cafes.
