Planning your family getaway for summer 2025? With plenty of up-and-coming destinations to explore and great deals to be seized, it’s never too early to start your booking. The trip of a lifetime could be just a few clicks away!

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing beach break or an action-packed adventure, it’s worth planning ahead. Below, we’ve covered some of the trending destinations and top tips for a memorable and hassle-free family holiday.

Why book your family holiday early?

Planning ahead makes sense. This is especially true when it comes to family holidays, giving you more time to focus on the daily routine and avoid the last-minute scramble for tickets!

Booking in advance ensures good availability. Whether your family’s priorities are window seats on the flight or a sea view from the hotel room, you can make sure that you won’t miss out on your favourite things.

Early or pre-season bookings also tend to be cheaper, giving you affordability and wiggle room with your budget. This opens doors to more activities for the whole family, including fine dining and high-end destinations.

Our top destinations for family fun

Here are some of our favourite destinations by interest type (from the many in the world but ones we’ve been too). Please note best times to go and pricing during school holidays massively varies, so please do your own research based on your intended travel. These facts and figures are only rough estimates, and it goes without saying Christmas, Easter and New Year will be high cost.

Best family holiday activities

Looking for things to do on your summer break? Holiday activities should be chosen thoughtfully. Try to make sure that they cater to all ages and personalities within your group, not leaving anyone feeling left out.

Look for activities that bring the family together. Use online tools and resources to compare the best 2025 holidays with your family, making a shortlist of your favourites. You could choose between attractions such as:

  • Adventure parks — Perfect for high-energy family fun
  • Cultural experiences and historical sites — Explore museums, castles, or UNESCO World Heritage sites
  • Wildlife safaris and nature reserves — Learn about wildlife and conservation while exploring national parks
  • Seasonal sports — Skiing in the winter or water sports in the summer
  • Luxury resorts — Combine relaxation with family activities at a luxury beach resort
  • City breaks — Explore city centres, enjoy shopping, and visit museums or galleries

Getting your budget right

Any family holiday means you’ll need to plan within a budget. Don’t overspend if it means sacrificing your personal savings or funds needed for education, although flight delay compensation might off-set things a bit.

Early bookings facilitate better deals, so try and do your holiday planning as soon as you can. If you’re struggling to find cheap flights and transfers, look for exclusive deals or research alternative cost-effective ways to travel.

Finally, don’t forget to find creative ways to capture your holiday and make the memories last a lifetime. Consider bringing a camera or scrapbook to keep physical and tangible reminders of the adventures you’ve shared.

Managing Your Family Holiday Budget

Every family holiday requires careful budgeting. While it’s tempting to splurge on the trip, it’s essential not to compromise your financial security. Setting a realistic budget ensures that you don’t overspend and helps you make the most of your holiday funds. Here are a few tips to get the best value for money:

  • Book early — This helps you secure better prices, especially for flights and accommodation.
  • Search for deals — Many destinations and airlines offer special discounts for early bookings or last-minute deals.
  • Alternative transportation — Look for cheaper travel options like train services or shared airport transfers to save on transport costs.

If you’re looking to enhance your family holiday without stretching the budget too much, consider finding creative ways to capture your memories. Bringing along a camera or starting a holiday scrapbook will allow you to preserve those special moments long after your trip ends.
